Anything Related to the structure of the Earth or its Atmosphere
Basically, the article discusses that the atmosphere of the Earth is a dynamic mixture of gases and aerosols (Hanson). The focus of this article is on the gas composition of the Earth’s atmosphere. The gasses in the atmosphere are molecular in nature but only vary in proportion in both space and time. Also, these gasses have significant implications to our weather and climate. The atmospheric structure is about 85% of the mass of the atmosphere (Hanson). This atmosphere is like a thin shell of air that surrounds the planet. In conjunction, when temperature rises from below, it creates instability that is apparent in turbulence.
This article is another research that focused on the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere. It is indeed vey helpful because it gave accurate numbers on the percentage of important gasses that can be found on the atmosphere. Now, with the numbers given, it will be helpful for scientists and layman alike in guiding them whenever it is necessary. Also, the article did not forget to focus or mention ozone. The article reiterated the importance of ozone. It said that it is a natural layer of gas that is important for the lives on Earth because it protects us but more importantly, it plays a vital role in maintaining our climate; thus, it makes our weather in equilibrium. The article also mentioned about greenhouse gasses but it stressed on the more important role that it plays on the hydrological cycle of the Earth. Since the Earth is relatively transparent (to light), it is then heated from below. When sunlight heats the surface, it radiates the energy upwards in thermal wavelengths, some of which is absorbed by greenhouse gasses and then re-radiated.
This article is important because it gives us a bird’s eye view of what the Earth’s atmosphere is made of. Through these facts, we are able to know what are the “good” gasses that the atmosphere is lacking and because of this, we can devise plans to improve this state and decrease our actions that imply bigger threat to the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere. This article is also a good review to help us to be more aware of the present situation of the atmosphere and consequently, hopes to imply that we should be more conscious citizens.
